Gulp!
I (Peter) am turning 50 next year. My son Will, 17, has this week finished his last Year 12 secondary school exam and is looking to have a gap year before commencing University the year after. Next year looks like the ideal timing to go on the expedition of a life time!
I used to do much camping with both family and friends in my youth. I have not camped for many years. I need to learn much about recent developments in camping, get back into camping routines/rituals, and I am completely new to expedition travel – a dream of mine for some time.
I have been dreaming of buying a standard truck to use as an expedition vehicle. The types of truck I would like are relatively commonplace in Europe, and so buying one there and shipping back to Australia seems the solution. … but why not drive it back to Australia, rather than ship it back.
With the world’s oldest clipper ship, ‘City of Adelaide’ (www.cityofadelaide.org.au), anticipated to be shipped from Ayrshire in Scotland to South Australia in 2012, the theme of travelling from the pier at Largs in Ayrshire to Largs Pier in South Australia was born. Hence, “Largs to Largs” came of being.
